You use this dialog to create a new terminal or edit the properties of an existing one. Note that if a required value does not appear on a particular select list, select the ellipsis button next to the list to open the appropriate supporting table where you can add, modify, or delete items that appear on the pertinent select list.
When creating a new terminal, you access this dialog by right-clicking the terminal strip to which you want to add a new terminal, then on the shortcut menu, select New on the shortcut menu, and clicking Terminal. When editing the profile of an existing terminal, right-click the terminal, and then on the shortcut menu, select Properties.

Terminal configuration
When editing or duplicating a terminal, allows you to select an appropriate orientation for the selected terminal as required:
Regular
A conventional terminal that functions as a single unit.
Left-oriented
A terminal that has wires on the left side only.
Left and right-oriented
A terminal that has two sides: input and output.
Right-oriented
A terminal that has wires on the right side only.
Terminal
Allows you to type a name for the new terminal. This terminal name then appears in the Domain Explorer when the selected panel is expanded. Note that this option is available only after selecting a regular terminal configuration.
Left terminal
Allows you to type a terminal name that will constitute the left half of the terminal name.
Right terminal
Allows you to type a new terminal name that will constitute the right half of the terminal name.
Sequence
Allows you to type a unique terminal sequence number. This number designates the physical position of the terminal on the terminal strip. It is assigned automatically when you add a new terminal to the selected strip. If you change the sequence number of a terminal, be sure to change the sequence numbers of the other terminals on the terminal strip to avoid duplicate values.
Left terminal color
Allows you to select an appropriate terminal color.
Right terminal color
Allows you to select an appropriate terminal color.
Panel
Displays the panel to which this terminal belongs.
Terminal strip
Displays the terminal strip to which this terminal belongs.
Details
Channel
Allows you to select an appropriate channel number. Note that this option is available only if you are defining a terminal with channels)
Sequence within channel
Allows you to enter a sequence number for the terminal within the current channel. Note that this option is available only if you are defining a terminal in a channel which is a child item of wiring equipment
Type
Allows you to select an appropriate terminal type. Note that the Terminal Type dialog also allows you to replace the default image of terminal side icons for single and multiple connections.
Manufacturer
Allows you to select a terminal manufacturer.
Model
Allows you to select a terminal model.
Note
Allows you to type a brief note or a remark about this terminal.
Apply Naming convention
Allows you to name the new terminal automatically according to the naming conventions that are set for this terminal type in the Administration module. For more information, see Smart Instrumentation Administration Help, Domain Administration > Naming Conventions.
