In this dialog, you enter values for calculating the current control valve. You set the calculation method, body type, critical flow factor, valve style modifier and valve size, relative capacity, and the number of flow passages.
Calculation method
Select the required calculation method: ISA or IEC. The IEC standard is 60534-2-1 (1998).
Flow coefficient
If under Calculation method you selected ISA, displays Cv as the flow coefficient standard of control valve sizing. If you selected IEC, select the flow coefficient standard of control valve sizing: Cv (US) or Kv (Europe). Kv=Cv*0.865.
Noise calculation method
Select the required noise calculation method: Masoneilan or IEC. If you select IEC, you can also enter hydrodynamic noise below under ( Hydrodynamic Noise Data).
Body type
Select the required body type from this drop- down list. Note that the values displayed by default for critical flow factor, valve style modifier, relative capacity, number of flow passages and valve size vary with the body type that you select.
Critical flow factor
Accept the defaults based on the body type selected, or type the required values.
Pressure drop ratio factor
Accept the defaults, or type the required values.
Valve style modifier
Accept the defaults, or type the required value.
Relative capacity
Accept the defaults based on the flow coefficient standard, or type the required value.
Number of flow passages
Accept the default value based on the body type, or type the required value.
Valve size
Enter the valve size and select the unit of measure from the drop down list.
Outlet pipe diameter
Type the required value or accept the default.
Outletpipe diameter
Type the required value or accept the default.
Upstream line
Select this option to display the upstream line diameter (applies to a Control valve tag with multiline).
Downstream line
Select this option to the downstream line diameter (applies to a Control valve tag with multiline).
Copy from
Select to retrieve upstream or downstream lines diameter.
The Copy from button is enabled only when the downstream line (as selected in the Process Data Sheet window) is different than the main upstream line.
Hydrodynamic Noise Data
If under Noise calculation method you selected IEC, you can enter the following hydrodynamic noise values that will be included in the calculation of the current control valve.
Characteristic pressure ratio
Type the required value or leave this field blank and select Calculate to let Smart Instrumentation calculate this value automatically.
Calculate
Select this check box to automatically calculate the Characteristic pressure ratio. Note that selecting this check box will remove any value appearing in the Characteristic pressure ratio field.
Acoustical efficiency factor
Type in the required value or select Default to use the default value.
Correction value
Type in the required value or select Default to use the default value.
Speed of sound in the pipe wall
Type in the required value and select the unit of measure or select Default to use the default value.
Density of pipe material
Type in the required value and select the unit of measure or select Default to use the default value.
Molecular mass
Type the required value.
Specific heat Ratio
Type the required value or select Default to use the default value.
Calculated Result Fields
After you select Calculate, the software displays the calculated values in these fields.
