This section of the Line Process Data window contains the pipe and fluid properties of the current line.

Case (available if you enabled case)

Displays the current case.

Fluid state

Select the fluid from the list: Liquid, Gas/Vapor, Water, Steam, Solid/Powder or N/A or other.

  • The Solid/Powder state is not available for instrument type Relief Valve.

  • Smart Instrumentation does not perform calculations for tags with state Solid/Powder nor for fluid phases other than Single Phase.

Fluid phase

Select the fluid phase from the list: Single phase, Homogeneous 2-phase or Non- homogeneous 2-phase.

If you select N/A or other in Fluid state, this field is disabled.

Fluid name source

Select the source from which the data is retrieved: Database, API 2540, User-defined (file). If you select Database as the source, Smart Instrumentation uses the AIChE databank to calculate physical properties; therefore your values must comply with the AIChE temperature limits.

This option is not available for the Solid/Powder and N/A or other states.

Fluid name

Type the fluid name in the Name field.

Pipe material

Select the pipe material from this drop down list.

Pipe standard

Select the pipe standard: ANSI, DIN, ASME DN, or Other. When defining a new line, selecting ANSI, DIN, or ASME DN will open the Pipe Data Library dialog where you select the appropriate line parameters.

You cannot edit the Line Size, Line Schedule (ANSI / ASME DN), Nominal Pressure (DIN), Line Internal Diameter, and Wall Thickness (ANSI / ASME DN) fields because the values taken from the Pipe Data Library dialog automatically appear in these fields after you select the pipe standard parameters. You can select Other as the pipe standard, in which case you have to manually enter the parameters for the fields.

Pipe spec

Select the pipe spec in accordance with your standard. You can customize your pipe spec data in the Pipe Specs dialog accessible through the Line Properties dialog.

Line size, Line schedule, Line internal diameter, Wall thickness

The values in these fields are the ones that you select on the Pipe Data Library dialog which opens if you selected ANSI, DIN, or ASME DN as the pipe standard. To change these values, select a different pipe standard and then select the pipe standard from the Pipe Data Library dialog. You can also enter your own values if you select Other as the Pipe Standard.

Line schedule or Nominal pressure is not available if you select Other as the Pipe Standard.
