This option is available when you select to save a report as a .dxf file from a Print Preview window. You use this dialog to set options for files you want to save in .dxf format. If you use SmartSketch or AutoCAD, you can save any report in .dxf format for insertion into a CAD drawing. On selecting to save the file in a .dxf format, you can specify the report insertion parameters in the target CAD drawing, define certain display properties, and set the software to include the title block and frame, if needed.

  • It is not possible to save .dxf formatted drawings in batch mode.

  • When saving a multi-page drawing in .dxf format, the software saves each page of the drawing as a separate file sequentially numbered . For example, three page drawing named Area 1 would be saved as Area 1, Area 1 (1), and Area 1 (2).

  • It is not possible to save the multi-tag (SEE LIST) page of a multi-tag spec in .dxf format.

Save as .dxf file

Allows you to save a report as a .dxf file to the location set in the preferences.

Print

Allows you to print the reports directly without saving.

Placement parameters

Parameters of placing a report in a CAD drawing include the insertion point and scale factor. It is recommended that you first insert one report into a CAD drawing and manually adjust the parameters until the required layout is obtained. The appropriate parameters may then be entered in the boxes as described below.

Insertion point

Allows you to enter the coordinates for the insertion point of the report in the target CAD file. The insertion point is defined by the X and Y displacement from the lower-left corner of the CAD file. The upper-left corner of the report is inserted at this location. This means that if the insertion point is defined as X=0 and Y=0, the report appears outside the CAD drawing frame, under the lower frame line.

Scale factor

Allows you to type the appropriate scale factor for sizing the report so that it fits into the CAD file.

User-defined options

Font height coefficient

Allows you to type the required font height coefficient for the text characters in the report. This option is needed because Smart Instrumentation calculates the font size independently of the size of the report, whereas SmartSketch or AutoCAD scales the font with the report as a whole.

Font width coefficient

Allows you to type the required font width coefficient for the text characters in the report. This option is needed because Smart Instrumentation calculates the font size independently of the size of the report, whereas SmartSketch or AutoCAD scales the font with the report as a whole.

Change black report color to

Allows you to type the color value to be used as a substitute for black. All reports are displayed in black-and-white. If viewing the report in SmartSketch or AutoCAD with a black background, an alternative foreground color needs to be used. The recommended value is 7.

Target folder

Not available.

Include title block and frame with report

Allows you to save the report with the title block (which includes the logo and generic report data) and the frame. If the CAD package has its own frame, clear the check box to exclude the title block and frame from the saved report.
