You use this dialog to create a section on the basis of the section that is currently open in the Section Editor or to save the currently open section under the name of an existing section and overwrite that section. The dialog displays all sections belonging to the current section type: all header sections or all data sections.

Find section

Allows you to type the name of a specific section and select it under Existing pages.

Existing sections

This pane displays all sections belonging to type of the currently open section.

Section

Displays the section name.

Description

Displays the description of the section.

Process Function (only available for a data section)

Displays the section process function. You do not define the section process function in Smart Instrumentation. When creating a section on the basis of an existing section, the software always retains in the new section the process function of the existing page. It is possible, however, to assign a different process function to a section in an external tool, such as InfoMaker.

Item Type

Displays the item type for which the data section has been created ( Loop or Instrument). A header section always belongs to the Instrument item type because you can only create a header section for an instrument composite specification.

Section Type

Indicates whether the section is a header or data section. A section whose item type is Loop can only belong to the Data Section type because a loop composite specification does not include a header section.

Properties

Opens a dialog where you can edit the name and description of the section that you select.

New

Opens a dialog where you can enter name and description for the new section you want to create on the basis of the currently open section.

Page List

Opens a dialog that displays the name, process function, and description of all composite pages that include the current section.
