The options on the Conditioning tab allow you to set or update the CS tag pulse definitions and calibration scale.

Control system tag

Allows you to view the tag name of the tag you are currently editing.

Pulse

K Factor / Pulse rate

Allows you to type a K factor or pulse rate value. K factor is an industry standard (a factory-calibrated characteristic of a flow meter at the time of manufacturing) that expresses the number of pulses per volume produced by a certain type of flow meter, for instance a turbine flow meter.
Example: K factor = 20 pulses/gallons. If the K factor is known, the frequency produced by the instrument can be converted to flow rate.

Unit of measure — Type the unit of measure in which the software measures the pulse rate.

Calibration Scale

Minimum

Minimum value of the measured process variable or lowest output range that the sensor or actuator device is calibrated to measure or operate. This value is usually within the instrument range. The value is followed by the engineering unit of measure. In Smart Instrumentation the minimum value is retrieved and updated from the calibration range set in the Calibration Settings window of the calibration module.

Maximum

Maximum value of the measured process variable or the highest output range that the sensor or actuator device is calibrated to measure or operate. This value is usually within the instrument range. This value is followed by the engineering unit of measure. In Smart Instrumentation the minimum value is retrieved and updated from the calibration range set in the Calibration Settings window of the calibration module.

Unit of measure

Type the unit of measure in which the software measures the calibration scale.

Target range

Type the target range of the controller between the high and low range limits.

Direction

Set the way the DCS value changes according to the measured physical input. Select Direct to increase the DCS value when the measured input has increased. Select Reverse to decrease the DCS value when the measured input has increased.

Linearity type

Type the instrument output signal linearization type. This option is available for both bus and conventional instruments.

Valve fail position

Displays a physical/mechanical property of the control tag related to the instrument.

On signal state description

Displays a description of the state of the signal when the signal is on.

Off signal state description

Displays a description of the state of the signal when the signal is off.
