Table column headers in the import source file must not contain any spaces. If a space is inserted into a column header this results in the import failing.
The following tasks are used when you are working with the source table or database file.
Use this procedure to view the contents of the source table or database file that you selected when entering the Import Utility.
Use this procedure to select viewing options for your data source. The following viewing options are available:
-
Viewing all source data fields.
-
Viewing only linked source data fields.
-
Viewing only selected source data fields.
Filter the Displayed Source Data Fields
Use this procedure to filter the source data displayed in the Source Data section according to the filtering condition you defined on the Source tab of the Link Properties dialog. To use this option, you must define a filtering condition.
Sort the Displayed Source Data Fields
Use this procedure to perform an alphanumeric ascending sorting of the information displayed in the Source Data window according to one or more selected data fields.
Associate Additional Source Data
Use this procedure to import additional data and associate it to the source table that you selected on the Link Definitions dialog. This way you can import data into your database from more than one source table. You do this by associating columns from other tables or database files with the source table or database file. The associated columns automatically become a part of the source data that you have selected on the Link Definitions dialog.
You can use associations that have been previously saved in a link. To do this you must start the import process using a previously saved link.
