When opened from the Domain Explorer this dialog enables you to duplicate a tag number.
When opened from the Reference Explorer this dialog enables you to duplicate a typical tag class (denoted by "Typical").
Tag class
Enables you to select a tag class that you require. Tag numbers are classified according to the following tag classes:
-
Tags belonging to Electrical or Telecom classes may duplicate only into Electrical or Telecom.
-
Typical tags can not be duplicated into the Test equipment and Functional Requirement tag classes
Conventional
An instrument that relies mostly basic analog and discrete signals and does not belong to the fieldbus, telecom, electrical, or typical classes.
Electrical
An instrument that is associated with electrical signals.
Foundation Fieldbus
An instrument that is associated with a Foundation Fieldbus segment. This is an all-digital, serial, two-way communications system that serves as the base-level network in a plant or factory automation environment.
Foundation/PA virtual tag
A virtual digital tag for Foundation/Profibus PA instruments. This tag represents the control signal that is associated with the control function
Functional Requirement
A general tag class that is be associated with a loop at the early FEED design stage to capture process data information
HART
A Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) instrument. An instrument based on technology that extends the 4-20 mA standard analog transmission with a superimposed digital signal that contains process and instrument data.
HART Virtual Tag
A virtual digital tag for HART instruments.
Profibus-DP
An instrument associated with a Profibus DP (Decentralized Peripherals) segment. This instrument is used to operate sensors and actuators via a centralized controller in production automation applications.
Profibus-PA
An instrument associated with a Profibus PA (Process Automation) segment. This instrument is used to monitor measuring equipment via a process control system in process automation applications.
Soft Tag
The control functions or internal calculations used to monitor or control a process or a signal as part of the control strategy.
Telecom
A telecom instrument.
Test Equipment
An instrument used to calibrate other instruments ot equipment. Can be assigned to more than one instrument.
Tag number
Enables you to type the name of a new tag number. Use the Tab key or the left and right arrow keys to move the cursor to the next place. You can make your corrections or changes by overwriting the existing values. Alternatively, you can select the characters with the mouse pointer and then type the new content.
The data field displays the tag number name template which is based on the tag naming convention defined by the Domain Administrator for the current unit. Each segment may consist of any combination of letters, digits, spaces, and characters. You can customize the tag number name template to set a default, but only the Domain Administrator can change the naming conventions.
For typical tags, the naming convention is hard coded for an instrument and loop and cannot be changed.
Create in another unit
Select to open the Open dialog to create the new duplicated tag number in a unit .
This check box is unavailable when the Duplicated Tag Number dialog is opened from the Reference Explorer.
Example: 101–FE 2225/E
