Enables you to use the same generation method for all loops selected in the Domain Explorer. When generating loop drawings, the software skips loops assigned to the Manual method.

Generation method

For the current generation, enables you to apply any of the following methods:

CAD

Generates loop drawings using your CAD application.

Enhanced Report

Generates loop drawings using the Enhanced Report Utility. The software uses a mode according to the setting specified in the Preferences dialog. To display the preference setting, select File > Preferences, and then, in the tree view, expand the hierarchy Enhanced Reports > Enhanced Reports > View. The following generation methods are available: the By Loop, By Signal, Custom by Loop, and Custom by Signal.

As previously applied

Generates loop drawings according to the generation methods assigned to the source loops you selected. If your loop selection has loops that have not been assigned to any method in the Domain Explorer, the software applies the method displayed in the Default generation method box. Selecting As previously applied disables the CAD Options and CAD History tabs. If your loop selection includes loops assigned the CAD method, the software applies the preferences you set for CAD loop drawings on the General page of the Preferences dialog.

Default generation method

Displays your default loop drawing generation method specified in the Preferences dialog (only applies for loops that are not assigned to any generation method in the Domain Explorer).

Automatic save options

For the current generation only, these options allow you to overwrite the default path specified in the Preferences dialog (not available when selecting As previously applied). After you complete the current generation and reopen the dialog, the software reapplies the default path setting. When saving the drawing files, the software names the files according to the source loop numbers and appends the appropriate file extensions.

If the loop drawing name contains the / character, this is automatically replaced with the _ (underscore) character, for example 101-F-100/A is renamed 101-F-100_A.

Save documents automatically

Enables you to save the selected loop drawings as files at the time of generation.

Output drawing path

Displays the specified default path for saving the output drawings at the time of generation. The software saves generated loop drawings as files depending on the generation method that you selected:

  • When the generation method is CAD, the software displays the default path specified on the Loop Drawings > CAD File Locations page of the Preferences dialog. You can select Browse and specify a different folder to save the current CAD loop drawings.

  • When the generation method is Enhanced Report, the software displays the default path specified on the Enhanced Reports > Enhanced Reports > File Locations page of the Preferences dialog. You can select Browse and specify a different folder to save the current enhanced Enhanced Report Utility drawings.

  • When the generation method is As previously applied, the software automatically saves the drawings to the default folders specified on the Preferences dialog. The Output drawing path box becomes disabled. The path that is displayed in the box is the default path specified for CAD loop drawings. This path does not apply to Enhanced Report Utility drawings, which are saved to the folder you specified on the Preferences dialog, on the Enhanced Reports > Enhanced SmartLoop > File Locations page.

Print in background

Enables you to print your drawings while continuing to work in Smart Instrumentation. When you select this option, the software waits until no operations are being carried out on your computer and then sends the selected drawings to your printer. This allows you to continue working, without your computers resources being tied up by your printer when you need to work.
