The following describes the basic steps for creating a query. For further information please see the relevant procedure topics.
The Query Builder makes it possible to simply gather together specific information from various item types, attributes, and the relationships between them, and display the results in the Engineering Data Editor (EDE) in an easy to understand display. The basic flow for creating a query for use in the EDE is as follows:

In the Reference Explorer, create or open an existing query.

From the Item Type Explorer, drag and drop Item Types to the Definition Window.

Define the relationships and relationship method between the selected Item types.

Select the attributes for each Item Type from the Attribute Explorer.

Edit the query attributes in the Query Attributes Tab.

Preview the results of the query in the Query Preview Tab.

Save the query.
After saving the query it can then be generated in the EDE for viewing.
