The Query Builder allows you to create queries using a graphic user interface (GUI). You can use these queries to create and display data in different types of views and reports in the Engineering Data Editor (EDE).
Using an intuitive graphic user interface, you can create definitions of reports and customized views that can be saved and displayed in the Engineering Data Editor (EDE) without any prior knowledge of the database structure or SQL statements. The Query Builder’s graphic user interface uses the engineering data from the software based on Item Types, their Attributes, and Relationships. After selecting the required item types, attributes, and relationships the Query Builder saves this information in the Reference Explorer.
You can create a new query in the Query Builder or open an existing query from the Reference Explorer.
The Query Builder consists of several sections, they are:
Displays the Item Types, and allows you to select the Item Types you need for your query.
Here you define your query by placing the selected Item Types, and defining the relationship between them.
Displays the available attributes for the selected item type, and where you select the attributes required for your query.
Query Attributes tab
Displays the selected attributes for your query.
Query Preview tab
Displays a preview of the query results.
All the explorers and tabs (except the Definition window) can be moved, un-docked, docked, closed, and opened independently of each other.
