Claiming items in Smart Instrumentation is performed from the Domain Explorer. With the Domain Explorer open on your project, you select the items you want to claim (copy) to the project. The software displays all the selected items and additional related items in a buffer, until you decide to copy them to your project. The group of combined selected items and related items copied automatically by the software is referred to as the engineering scope.
