The options in this tab folder determine how data is transferred to the source and deal with tag and loop number naming conventions.

Prompt after each rejected row

Select this option to be able to stop the merge process each time the software fails to copy a row to the target domain. Whenever this occurs, the merge process stops until you respond to the prompt. Do not select this option if, for example, you are running the Merger Utility unattended. The software records the rejected rows in the log file.

Use tag naming conventions for wiring items

Select this option to use the tag names for labeling wiring items that are associated with the tags.

Merge typical tags / loops

Select this option to include typical tag and loop data from the source in the merge process.

Allow only identical source and target tag / loop conventions

Select this option to use the same tag and loop naming conventions for both the source and the target. Note that this option is unavailable if one or more of the source <units> has a naming convention that differs in any way from the target naming convention, including the values of constants such as UNIT NUMBER. Selecting this option when available helps to speed up the merge process.

Update existing data

Select this option to overwrite target data with data from the source domain. The software updates the data for existing items, depending on the selected tables and records, and enables the Update Mode tab that allows you to specify options for updating data.

Do not select this option if you want to transfer the data from the source domain to the target without overwriting the target data. This way, the Merger Utility skips the source rows that are identical to the target rows.

Test

Checks if the tag and loop naming conventions in the target and source are identical:

  • If the source and target naming conventions of tags and loops are identical, the software automatically selects the Allow only identical source and target tag / loop conventions check box and clears the Use tag naming conventions for wiring items check box.

  • If the source and target naming conventions of tags and loops are not identical, the software automatically clears the Allow only identical source and target tag / loop conventions check box and selects the Use tag naming conventions for wiring items check box.
