Use this procedure to select a source domain residing in another SQL Server.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure you have the proper access rights (logon name and password) required to connect to the source domain.

  • If you need to connect to a source domain residing in another SQL Server database, make sure you created an ODBC profile for connection to the source database. You cannot use existing profiles that are available for selection in the Merger Utility. When creating a new ODBC profile for SQL Server, make sure the new profile name is unique in the Windows registry of the computer where you run the Merger Utility.

The Merger Utility does not support source domains with the As-Built functionality.

  1. In the Merger Session Manager window, open a merger session.

  2. Select Actions > Connect to Source PPM All Outputs Graphic.

  3. On the Connect to Source dialog, clear Use target domain as source.

  4. Select Connect.

  5. On the Connect to Database dialog, from the DBMS list, select ODBC. From the Profile name list, select the source database profile.

SHARED Tip With ODBC being your database platform, from the Profile name list, you can select a SQL Server ODBC profile.

  6. In the Logon name and Logon password boxes, type the logon name and password for connection to the source database using the selected ODBC profile.

  7. Select OK to establish the connection to the source database and reopen the Connect to Source dialog.

  8. On the Connect to Source dialog, select Plant Hierarchy.

  9. On the Source Plant Hierarchy dialog, select as the source either the entire domain or any plant hierarchy item within the domain. For details of how to continue the merge process, see Match the Source Data with the Target Data.
