When calculating intrinsic safety for a loop, you need to define the tag numbers that belong to the relevant loop. You have to repeat this procedure for each and every tag number in the loop.

  1. In the Domain Explorer, right-click an instrument, and on the short-cut menu, select Properties.

  2. On the Tag Number Properties dialog, beside the Intrinsically safe circuit type list, select .

  3. On the Intrinsically Safe Circuit Types dialog, select the required row, and then select Properties.

SHARED Tip You can also create a new intrinsically safe circuit type.

  4. On the Intrinsically Safe Data Input dialog, in both group boxes, make sure that you express the following parameters in the following units of measure:

    • Resistanceohm

    • InductancemH

    • CapacitancemF (microFarad)

    • L/RmH/ohm

  5. Select OK to close the Intrinsically Safe Data Input dialog.

  6. Make sure that the row that you require is selected and then select OK to close the Intrinsically Safe Circuit Types dialog.

  7. On the Tag Number Properties dialog, select OK.
