When calculating intrinsic safety for a loop, you need to define the tag numbers that belong to the relevant loop. You have to repeat this procedure for each and every tag number in the loop.
-
In the Domain Explorer, right-click an instrument, and on the short-cut menu, select Properties.
-
On the Tag Number Properties dialog, beside the Intrinsically safe circuit type list, select .
-
On the Intrinsically Safe Circuit Types dialog, select the required row, and then select Properties.
You can also create a new intrinsically safe circuit type.
-
On the Intrinsically Safe Data Input dialog, in both group boxes, make sure that you express the following parameters in the following units of measure:
-
Resistance — ohm
-
Inductance — mH
-
Capacitance — mF (microFarad)
-
L/R — mH/ohm
-
-
Select OK to close the Intrinsically Safe Data Input dialog.
-
Make sure that the row that you require is selected and then select OK to close the Intrinsically Safe Circuit Types dialog.
-
On the Tag Number Properties dialog, select OK.
