On the General tab of the Wiring Equipment Properties – I/O Card dialog, you define the I/O card name, its type, manufacturer, and model.

Note that if you are creating DeltaV-compatible items, see Crucial Fields for the DeltaV Interface for important information.

Name

Allows you to type an I/O card name. This I/O card name then appears in the Domain Explorer when you expand the hierarchy of the parent item.

Apply naming conventions

Allows you to let the software name the new card automatically according to the naming conventions that are set for this type of equipment in the Administration module. For more information, see Smart Instrumentation Administration Help, Domain Administration > Naming Conventions.

If you clearing the Apply naming convention check box, the software disregards the naming conventions and accepts the name that you typed under Name.

Panel

Displays the name of the panel where the current I/O card is located.

Double width/Redundant

Allows you to determine that the card occupies a double width slot or if the I/O card has an adjacent redundant I/O card.

Description

Allows you to type a brief description, as you require.

Type

Allows you to select an I/O card type. If the required type is not on the list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Type select list.

Manufacturer

Allows you to select an I/O card manufacturer. If the required manufacturer is not on the list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Manufacturer select list.

Model

Allows you to select an I/O card model. If the required model is not on the list, select to open a dialog where you add or modify the items in the Model list.

Sequence

Allows you to enter a sequence number for the current I/O card within its parent wiring item. This sequence also determines the order in which wiring items appear under their parent item in the Domain Explorer tree view.

Rack

Displays the rack where the current I/O card is located.

Slot

Displays the slot to where the current I/O card is located.
