13.1

Before you can work with the Smart Electrical Interface, you must perform the following actions:

  1. Install the SmartPlant Schema Component from the Smart Instrumentation CD Browser (select Add-In Software, and then select Schema Component Installation).

SHARED Tip On the Select Optional Features page, clear the Schema Editor check box if you do not need to use the Schema Editor.

  2. Install the SmartPlant Client from the Smart Instrumentation CD Browser (select Add- In Software, and then select SmartPlant Client Installation).

SHARED Tip On the Select Features page, make sure that you clear the SmartPlant Automatic Retrieval check box.

  3. In the Windows Registry, you need to specify the folder location of the .xml file containing the published data. In the case where multiple users publish the data, all the users must define the same path. The path is defined in the Registry location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\INTERGRAPH\INTOOLS using the parameter OutputXMLFolder = <.xml file path>.

  4. The Domain Administrator must register the items. For details, see Register Items in the Administration Module help.

  5. Set up the plant hierarchy for which you are going to publish and retrieve data.

    • To ensure the smooth functioning of the Smart Instrumentation backup and restore functions and to avoid duplicating data, each plant in Smart Electrical must map to Smart Instrumentation at the domain level. For this reason, make sure that each Smart Instrumentation domain that you map contains no more than one plant.

    • At this stage, the prerequisites for working with the interface must also be met on the Smart Electrical side. For details, see the section Smart Instrumentation Interface in the Smart Electrical Help.

  6. In Smart Instrumentation, retrieve the file Plant Groups.xml, (on the SmartPlant menu, select Retrieve, and then navigate to the file which is published in the folder of the current specified Smart Electrical plant). This file contains plant structure information to facilitate correlation of the plant structures between both applications.

  7. For each unit where data is to be published and retrieved, the Domain Administrator must open the Unit dialog and enter a unit number corresponding to the unit code of the mapped Smart Electrical.

  8. You are now ready to use the interface to publish and retrieve data.
