Routing sections are the wiring elements that convey the cables in your <plant>.  They subdivide into two main categories:

  • Trunk — a standard section that can be utilized in all non-enclosed plant areas.  Trunks contain positions.

  • Building — a section that passes in an enclosed area and does not contain positions.

This dialog box allows you to duplicate the data of a Trunk or Building section, and select the positions to be included in a Trunk section.  The positions that you can select are those for which you have already defined the maximum number of cables.

To access this dialog box, on the Routing Sections dialog box, select a routing section, and click Duplicate.

Routing section — Allows you to type a section name.

Routing category — Allows you to select a routing category.  The options are Trunk or Building.

Length — Allows you to type the length of an unassigned section.  The unit of measure that you defined in the Routing Options dialog box is displayed to the right of the box.  Note that this feature is not available unless a cable assigned to this section is on a locked drum

Position and widths — Displays routing positions that you defined in the Standard Routing Positions dialog box, and standard widths that you defined in the Standard Widths dialog box.  Note that this feature is available if you selected Trunk. The check boxes appear for combinations of position and standard width for which you set a maximum number of cables in the Maximum Number of Cables dialog box.

Position — Displays the list of positions that are available for association with the routing section.

(Widths) — Displays standard widths that you defined.  Select one Width check box for each position you want to associate with the section.
