Use this procedure to duplicate an existing typical loop from the Reference Explorer.

  1. On the Reference Explorer, right-click the loop and select Duplicate.

  2. On the Duplicate Loop Number dialog box, enter the loop number and click OK.

If your naming convention includes a free segment as the first segment, and the first character of the free segment in your loop number is empty, it will result in corrupted instrument tag numbers within the duplicate loop.

  3. On the Loop Number Properties dialog box, enter the required loop data and click OK.

If the selected loops have tags, the Create Loop Tags (Tag Class: Typical) dialog opens with an option to define which tags to duplicate. Do the following:

    1. Select the tags and click OK.

    2. If you did one of the following, the Select Instrument Type dialog box opens.

      • Modified the Instrument Type segment of the tag and the new Instrument Type does not have a unique value.

      • Modified a free segment of the tag.

      • Changed the Tag Class to Telecom.

    3. Select the instrument type and click OK for each selected tag.

    4. On the Loop Number Properties message box click OK and click one of the following on the message box:

      • Yes, to open the Tag Number Properties dialog box and edit tag number properties.

      • No, to complete the typical loop duplication process.

The new typical loops are automatically displayed in the Reference Explorer.
