Pipe spec is a specification that defines various process conditions for a specific pipe. You use this dialog to define new pipe specs and to edit existing pipe specs in Smart Instrumentation.

After making your pipe spec definitions, you can assign a pipe spec to one or more lines in the Process Data or Instrument Index module.

Also, you can assign a pipe spec to one or more instruments in the Browser or Instrument Index module. For more information, see Assign Pipe Specs to Lines.

Do one of the following to open this dialog:

  • To open the dialog in the Process Data module, in the Process Data Module window, select Process to open the Select Line dialog, and then select Properties or New to open the Line Properties dialog. To the right of the Pipe spec list, select .

  • To open the dialog in the Instrument Index module, on the Tables menu, select Lines, and then in the Lines dialog, select Properties or New to open the Line Properties dialog. To the right of the Pipe spec list, select .

Find a pipe spec

Type the initial characters of the pipe spec name.

Displays the name of existing pipe specs. Type the name for a new pipe spec, or edit the name of an existing pipe spec.

Description

Displays the description of existing pipe specs. Type the description for a new pipe spec, or edit the description of an existing pipe spec.
