The Connection data window displays all the existing connections of the selected panel. Here is where you make the required connections, disconnect wiring items, and access other dialog boxes to define jumpers, connection types, and various service dialog boxes.

The data window shows you a graphical representation of a terminal strip belonging to the selected panel with all the associated wiring. Note that the data in the Connection window is displayed according to terminal sequence and not according to channel sequence. You make the required connections using the drag-and-drop method.

Strip Terminals

This is the middle section of the window that displays all the strip terminals and their connections:

If the terminal strip contains channels, or input/output headers for a multi-input terminal-connection device panel, they are shown in yellow. You can double-click a header to open the relevant Channel Properties dialog:

Apparatus strips are shown as follows:

Connectors are shown in pink and apparatus positions are shown in yellow. You can double-click an apparatus position to open the Apparatus Positions dialog.

Names of terminals

These appear in the middle of the group boxes and they are numbered accordingly. Double-clicking a name of a terminal opens the Terminal Properties dialog where you can edit the profile of that terminal.

Screw Head Icon

Allows you to select a screw head to open the Terminal Connection dialog where you can see additional connection information and assign wire designations. Note that screw heads can be in two colors:

  • gray where one or no wire is connected to the terminal.

  • turquoise blue two or more wires are connected to this terminal.

Wire Connection icon PPM All Outputs Graphic

This icon represents the wire connection and the wire color. When making a connection, drag the required wire or cable set from the Domain Explorer to this icon.

Left and Right Wiring Connections

This section of the data window displays the cables, sets, and wires connected on the left and right sides of the terminal strip.

Wire

Displays the wire connected to a terminal. double-click a wire to open the Wire Properties dialog were you can modify the profile of the selected wire.

Set

This field displays the cable set that contains the wire connected to a terminal. double-click a cable set to open the Cable Set Properties dialog were you can modify the profile of the selected cable set.

Cable

Displays the cable that contains the cable set and the wire connected to a terminal. double-click a cable to open the Cable Properties dialog were you can modify the profile of the selected cable.
