Smart Instrumentation Version
13.1

You export Smart Instrumentation process and calculation data to an ASCII command delimited file by using the Smart Instrumentation export feature. This file can later be imported into Flowserve Performance! where the data it contains is used to make sizing calculations and to select the appropriate valves. The ASCII file contains the following information:

  • Fields that are required for sizing calculations, including line data

  • ISA format specification fields

  • Fields that contain export-only data (for example, revision data)

Fields that allow insertion of new data, when you import data from the ASCII file back to Smart Instrumentation

During the export process, the 'U' character is added to the Flowserve Performance! unitnumber field string.

In order for the Export to Flowserve Performance! - Find Items dialog box to function correctly, you must have created a query and generated from the query an EDE containing at least the following Item Types:

  • Instrument - (with relation to)

  • Process Data (Shared) - (with relation to)

  • Process Data Control Valve

A template QBF (Query Builder File) containing the required Item Types is available for import to the Query Builder folder. You can then, if you want, add further attributes and generate an EDE. The generated EDE is then used by the software to locate items suitable for export. The QBF file can be found in the Queries folder (not to be confused by the Queries folder found in the Reference Explorer) located in the Smart Instrumentation root folder. The file is called ExportInterfacesFistVueMasonailanFlowserve.qbf.

For information on importing a QBF in to Smart Instrumentation, see Import a Query Builder File.

  • It is from this EDE that the instruments are taken for export to Flowserve Performance!

  • The software searches for an EDE that matches the criteria for exporting to Flowserve Performance! and displays the EDE name in the Find Items dialog box. For more information on working with EDEs, see Working with EDE Views

  • If filters were applied to the EDE, only those instruments left after filtration are exported.

  • To view your data correctly after importing to Flowserve Performance!, you should also include the instrument attribute Specification Form in your query. You can then filter your EDE results according to Form Number 1 or 71.

It is possible that the data retrieved by the EDE may contain typical tags as well as process data. The typical tags data doesn't interfere with the export process. If you want you can use the EDE filters and remove the typical tags.
