The Link Explorer is used for navigating and managing your import links. You can select links or groups of links to perform a number of actions. If you are familiar with the Windows Explorer, you find that many of the features in the Link Explorer are similar, so you can apply your knowledge immediately to begin working.
You must have appropriate access rights to perform import functions.
Link List
The Link List pane shows the group / link hierarchy. Links can be grouped according to any criterion you want. This makes it easier for you to find the link that you want to use.
All
This is a special group that contains all the import links in the database, whether or not they are associated with any of the other groups; newly- created links are automatically added to this group. The links are listed in alphabetical order.
Links cannot be moved into this group from other groups, and the All group itself cannot be renamed or deleted.
Group (Named)
Each named group includes the import links associated with it. When selected, a list of the associated of the links appear in the right pane. Selecting a group automatically selects all the links associated with it.
Link (Named)
The import links contains all the information for importing the data at the level of a table or module. The order of the links in a group is important as it indicates the order of the data import if you select to import data for more than one link. When selected, details of the selected link appears in the right pane. It is possible to select only one link at a time in this pane.
Contents
The Contents pane shows details of the selected group or link. When you select a group in the Link List pane, its source and target information is displayed in the Contents pane, and you can make multiple selections of the links from the Contents pane (by holding down the SHIFT or CTRL key).
The columns in the Contents pane display the following information:
Link Name
The name of the selected link or the links in a selected group.
Target Name
The target of the selected link.
Version
The version of the selected link.
Source Name
The file path of the source table.
DBMS
The source platform: ODBC, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Profile
The ODBC profile of the selected link.
Server Name
Displays the source database server name that you defined on the Link Definitions dialog (for non- ODBC platforms only).
Login
Displays the source database user name that you defined on the Link Definitions dialog (for non-ODBC platforms only).
