Problem

When you select a document management command in the Desktop Client, the following error appears:

The [Client API Name] API is not supported.

When the error is dismissed, sometimes an editable form appears, but the form does not perform the actions indicated by the selected command.

Cause

Since the Web Client uses the Desktop Client for configuration purposes, there are a few client APIs and methods that are not supported in the Desktop Client. While these client APIs and methods can be found when searching administrative tools, they are not configured to appear on menus or shortcut menus in the Desktop Client by default.

The error occurs when an administrator has:

  • Configured one of these methods to display in the Desktop Client.

  • Created a new method based on one of these APIs and configured it to display in the Desktop Client.

Solution

  • Edit the methods, and clear the Display in the Desktop Client check box.
