Once the modeling in the publish schema is complete, you must load those changes into the SmartPlant Foundation database. This process consists of four steps:

  • Check in the CMF file

  • Prepare the CMF data to be loaded into SmartPlant Foundation

  • Load the schema changes using the Schema Import Wizard

  • Generate the component schema files

Check in the CMF File

  1. In the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, click Find > Integration > Schema Documents to find the CMF_ver document.

  2. Right-click the document, and click Edit > Check In.

  3. Click OK in the Check In dialog box.

Prepare the CMF data to be loaded into SmartPlant Foundation

  1. In the Desktop Client, find the newest version of the CMF_ver document. If necessary, click Find > Integration > Schema Documents.

  2. Right-click the newest version of the CMF_Ver document, and click Launch CMF File Manager (XML).

  3. In the Input file list, select the CMF file and all of the pseudo files.

  4. Verify that the latest configuration is selected in the CMF list under Available configurations.

  5. Click Export to create an XML file with the schema information for the selected configuration.

SHARED Tip By default, the output directory is the My Documents folder for the current user.

Load the schema changes using the Schema Import Wizard

  1. In the Desktop Client, click Administration > Schema Import Wizard.

  2. In the Schema Import Wizard, select Compare content of selected file against all database items with a matching container ID.

  3. Under Select external schema file, browse to SCHEMA_EFSchema-Gen.xml in the directory where the software created it in the previous procedure, Prepare the CMF Data to be Loaded into SmartPlant Foundation.

  4. Click Next.

The Schema Import Wizard compares the generated schema with the SmartPlant Foundation database and displays the results. This process can take several minutes.

  5. Under Comparison Results, click Select All, and then click Next.

If the items were all successfully loaded, the status in the Load State column is set to Loaded. If not, the status is either Passed or Failed.

  6. Click Finish.

  7. Using the same steps, load the MTRIntegration-Gen.xml file from the same folder as the SCHEMA_EFSchema-Gen.xml.

    • The name of this file is MTRIntegration-Gen, if you used the name recommended during the installation process.

    • This file contains the contents of the pseudo file with the SmartPlant Master Tag Registry integration customizations.

If the Comparison Results window of the Schema Import Wizard includes delete instructions, do not proceed. Click Cancel and dismiss the Schema Import Wizard.

Generate the component schema files

  1. In the Desktop Client, right-click the latest version of the CMF_ver document.

  2. On the shortcut menu, click Regenerate Schema Files.

This command creates a scheduler task that regenerates the component schema files based on the information in the current version of the CMF.

  3. Verify the Published File Scheduler is started so that the component schema files can be generated.

This command generates the SmartPlant component schemas in the location defined for your site in Server Manager.

This process can run in the background while you proceed with other operations; however, it must be completed before you attempt to publish or retrieve from an authoring tool.
