You can configure relationship and edge definition shortcuts on the toolbar for the expansion of relationships that normally appear when you right-click an item to access the shortcut menu. These toolbar shortcuts reduce the amount of interaction that is needed by a user as the shortcuts expand items directly from the toolbar. There is also a performance improvement over the existing right-hand mouse option, as these shortcuts reduce the amount of server calls that the normal right-hand mouse option uses to build a context menu.

This functionality retains the look of the existing method shortcuts, but any configured relationship or edge definition shortcuts appear to the right of any method shortcuts on the toolbar. This process does not use a method as it is configured directly on a relationship or edge definition using the Update form.

To use the relationship and edge definition toolbar shortcut:

  1. Click an object and any configured relationship or edge definition shortcuts appear on the toolbar to the right of the method shortcuts.

  2. Click the shortcut and any related items display in a list view. If no relationships of this type are found, a message is displayed in the status bar.

Access to the shortcut is controlled by any access groups the relationship definitions or edge definitions have been configured against. If you do not have access to the shortcut, the icons are not displayed in the toolbar menu.
