When viewing objects in the various configurations, it is important to remember that you can see objects in the configuration or configurations set as your current query scope and items at the higher configuration, but you cannot see objects in a lower configuration. In other words, queries run at the plant level return objects at the plant level. However, queries run at the project level return objects in that project and in the plant above it.

Because of this, the results of relationship expansion can vary when working in different configurations with claimed items. For example, a plant contains a Tag that is related to System 1, which was created at the plant level, but the Tag has also been claimed down into a project.

If you find the Tag while in the plant and expand the relationship, you see only the original System 1 at the plant level. However, if you change your query scope to the project, when you find the tag and expand the relationship, you see only the claimed System 1. This is because from the project, you can find items (the tag) at that configuration and higher, but when items exist in both (System 1), you will see the version of the item most specific to your query scope (the project).

In another example, the plant contains the same Tag and System 1. However, System 2 has been created in the project and is also related to the Tag in System 1.

In this case, when you find the tag in the plant and expand the relationship, you see only System 1 – the relationship at the current level. However, if you change your query scope to cover the project, when you find the tag and expand the relationship, you see the relationships to both System 1 and System 2. The first relationship exists at the plant level, and the second relationship exists in the project, so both relationships are visible from the project.
