  • The sample schema delivered at Smart Community can affect a production system. We recommend that you create a site and project specifically to load and use the sample schema file. All the sample schema, project files, CSV files, and other files referred to in this document, unless specified otherwise, can be found on Smart Community. For more information, see Find sample data on Smart Community.

  • You must have the SmartPlant Foundation 2019 server component installed.

  1. Log on to SmartPlant Foundation Server Manager.

  2. Create a site named SPFTGT for the sample schema using the SPFADW.dmp file, located in the SmartPlant Foundation installation folder.

SHARED Tip Right-click the SmartPlant Foundation Sites node in the tree view, and click New on the shortcut menu to open the New Site Wizard.

The Server Manager Edit > New command allows you to create new sites using the Server Manager New Site Wizard. The Server Manager New Site Wizard allows you to create new sites using new or existing Oracle and SQL Server databases.

    • The operation of the wizard differs depending on the type of site you are creating.

    • You must have IIS installed on your computer before you can use this command.

    • We recommend that you add and delete sites only through the Server Manager application. Do not use IIS to delete any virtual directories created using this command.

    • In the License Server Information page, you must enter a secure administrator password for the Authorization Server. Make a note of this password so you can access the Intergraph Authorization Server later. You can change the Authorization Server administrator's password anytime using Server Manager. However, you must know the original password if you want to change the password.

    • Creating a new site also creates a set of virtual directories in Internet Information Service (IIS) on your computer.

    • When you create a new site, the SQL log files and batch files are created in the Temp\ServerManager directory of the default path. For example, C:\ Server Files\Temp\ServerManager\DatabaseScripts.

    • The wizard logs information about site creation in a log file named SiteCreation#date_time#.log, where #date_time# represents the date and time of the database creation. For example, SiteCreation6.20.2014_3.46.log. The SiteCreation log file is located in the Temp\ServerManager directory of the default path. For example, C:\ Server Files\Temp\ServerManager\[SiteName].

You can allow the wizard to automatically create local users on the operating system, set them to run as the identity of the related application pool, and set permissions for the users.

  3. Load the sample schema files. You must load the Schema_Tag.xml file first and then load the Admin_Tag.xml file.

    Tell me more

Your SmartPlant Foundation target system will need some additional schema files before it can be used for loading the tags as a target system for Data Validator. The sample schema file includes class definitions that are required to import the tags available in the sample input file. You must load the sample schema files located at Smart Community. For more information, see Find sample data on Smart Community.

To load the sample schema files, use the Loader in SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client to process the schema files, Schema_Tag.xml and Admin_Tag.xml

    1. In SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, click File > Loader.

    2. Browse to the Getting_Started folder located at Smart Community.

    3. Select the following files, and click Open.

      • Schema_Tag.xml

      • Admin_Tag.xml

    4. Click Process.

    5. Click Close.

After processing the load file, be sure to close the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client and Server Manager and recycle the application pools for your site using Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to avoid database connection errors.

For more information on using the Loader, see Loader.

  4. Load the project data files onto the Data Validator target site. You must load the FunctionalAreas_PlantA.txt file first and then load the FunctionalUnit_PlantA.txt file.
