Before a merge by grouping process starts, all objects are run through specific validation rules. If any object fails validation, an error is produced and displayed in a list view in the Merge Structure Exception report.

You can resolve the displayed conflicts and errors, so that the merge by grouping object can complete successfully. Any items with unresolved conflicts can be displayed in a separate list by selecting Get Conflicts. Any items that requires independent merging, due to being removed from the selected structure, can be displayed in a separate list by selecting Get Moved Items.

  • Items that no longer belong to the merge by grouping data structure, such as a tag on the end of a relationship that has been flagged for termination, should be considered carefully before merging. They are included in the data structure so that the plant or project being merged is correctly represented. Merge by grouping structure checks for this situation and will display the tag as a moved item in a separate list by selecting Get Moved Items.

  • A summary of the items using a merge grouping data structure can be displayed before the merge by using a merge items summary with validation in the Desktop Client.
