If operations such as quick finds and relationship expansions are slow with only one user logged in, examine the base infrastructure:
-
Network Configuration
-
Perform these tests on more than one client, as well as on a client running on the server, to determine if the problems are related to the client hardware, the network, or the server.
-
Use client and server tracing to see how long each component takes.
-
Use the diagnostic tool to obtain times to transfer files and other tasks.
-
Use the OS ping command between the client, the SmartPlant Foundation server, and the database server to look for network issues.
-
Refer to additional profiling documentation for client, server, network, and database.
-
-
Hardware and OS configuration
-
The base recommendations for client and server hardware are documented in Application Server Installation and Setup for SmartPlant Foundation.
-
Run the SmartPlant Foundation server processes on a 64-bit OS in 64-bit mode. Details of the application pool configuration are provided in Set up IIS Application Pools and User Accounts Manually.
-
Increase the available memory, particularly if performing large queries or loads. These changes apply to both server and client for queries.
-
-
-
Database Tuning
-
Ensure that the database has been analyzed and optimized and that sufficient memory has been allocated to the database. This activity requires specific database administration knowledge and access for Oracle or SQL. A document is available from the support or product center website. Contact your database administrator or database support provider for further database administration details.
