If you want to use external transmittals to distribute documents among external departments or site and affiliate offices, these objects must exist in the SmartPlant Foundation database.

  1. Click File > New > Organization / Support Items > Department / Office in the Desktop Client.

    You must have document controller or administrator role privileges to access the Organization / Support Items submenu.

  2. Type a Name and Description for the department or office.

  3. Provide any other details of the department or office, as necessary.

    An asterisk (*) indicates that an option is required to create a new object.

  4. In the Department optional interfaces section, select the External organization option.

  5. Click Finish to create the external department.
