The Manage Related Items dialog box provides the user with an interface to display and maintain related items for a specified relationship. Examples are Manage Related Items for Form, Manage Related Items for Column Sets, and Manage Menus.

The following diagram shows a typical Manage Related Items dialog box (for the SPFDBFile form, in this example).

1

Parent item (shown in title form)

2

Related Items pane (with configurable columns)

3

Library pane

The left pane represents a list of related items (in this example, form sections), the properties on the objects, and the relationships that can be edited directly in the list view window. These updates are saved to the database when you click OK and ignored when you click Cancel.

The right pane displays a library that contains a set of valid items that can be related to the object (in the example in the diagram, form sections). The library allows the user to create new items, delete items, and relate items to the original object.

The library control can be turned on or off via the method arguments. To relate an item, select it in the Library pane, and click the Relate Selected Item button. The item selected will appear in the list on the left, and you can click each cell to edit or add values.

You can change the positions of the two panes on this dialog box. Click the Switch Orientation MRI Switch Orientation Button button to switch to portrait orientation. In portrait orientation, the Related Items pane appears at the top of the dialog box and the Library pane appears at the bottom. In portrait orientation, click the Relate Selected Item button on the left side of the Library pane to add items to the Related Items pane and relate them to the original object. Click the Switch Orientation MRI Switch Orientation Button button again to return to landscape orientation.

The following example shows the dialog box in portrait orientation.
