You can search for objects, based on detailed information about the object, the name of the object, and the type of object.

Find dialog box

Allows you to search for an object by name and description.

Enter name - Allows you to type the object name. Sometimes the option name is the object type you chose to search for. For example, if you select Find > Pipe Line, the name of this label is Pipe Line, rather than Enter name.

Enter description - Allows you to type the object description in the Enter description box. It can be used on its own by clearing the Enter name box.

Force upper case - Select this option to display all characters as upper case in the Enter name box or the Enter description box. If the option is cleared, you can type upper case and lower case characters in both boxes.

Multiple finds – Using the multiple find ellipsis allows you to type multiple object name search criteria in the Enter name box.

Query dialog box

Allows you to search for an object by the object properties.

Details

Name - Searches the name of the object.

Description - Searches the description of the object.

ContainerID - Displays the Container ID for the object and relationship.

General details

Creation date - Searches for objects that were created on a specific date. When you click this box, the Set Date and Time dialog box appears, providing additional options for setting dates and times for use in queries.

Create user - Searches for objects created by a specific SmartPlant Foundation user.

Last updated - Searches for objects by the last date it was changed. When you click this box, the Set Date and Time dialog box appears, providing additional options for setting dates and times for use in queries.

Set Date and Time dialog box

Allows you to control the date and time used in a query to return information before, after, or at a specific time. Additionally, you can specify two dates to request information applicable only between them.

Calendar - Allows you to set a date.

Include time string - Allows you to specify an optional time to return for the query. This time, the date you selected, and the query operation settings are used to define the query.

Query operation - Indicates whether you want to query on, before, or after the selected date, or between two specified dates.

  • = (Equals) - Query for only the selected date.

  • < (Less than) - Query before the selected date.

  • > (Greater than) - Query after the selected date.

  • <> (Between dates) - Query between the From Date and To Date boxes.

  • From Date - The first date in the query range.

  • To Date - The second date in the query range.

Save Query dialog box

Allows you to save a query so that you can run the query later.

Query name - Type a name for the query.

Description - Type a description for the query.

GUI display as - Type the name for the query to use on the shortcut menu.

You can only save queries from the Query dialog box available from the main Query menu.

Full Text Search dialog box

Allows you to search for objects or files with specific text in their properties or content. The search is limited to the current query configuration as selected in the Query scope dialog box.

Search criteria - Allows you to type or select the text for which you want to search.

Properties - Select this option to search for the text only in the properties of objects.

Content - Select this option to search the content of attached files.

Display matching files - Select this option to display file objects that match the search criteria in the search results.

Class definitions

Allows you to search for objects of multiple class definitions.

Select All ClassDefs - Allows you to select specific class definitions to search.

Live and Terminated Objects dialog box

Allows you search for an active and terminated objects and revive terminated objects back to an active status in the database. Once you run the query, the search results are displayed in a dialog box named for the type of object queries, for example, Live and terminated DEVTags.

Terminated and active objects pane

Name - The name of the active or terminated object.

Description - The description of the active or terminated object in text.

Config - The configuration from which the active or terminated object is located.

Termination Date - The date the object was terminated.

Termination User - The user who terminated the object.

Creation Date - The date the object was created.

Creation User - The user who created the object.

Properties grid pane

Property - The type of active or terminated property.

Value - The value of the active or terminated property.

Creation Date - The date the active or terminated property was created.

Termination Date - The date the active or terminated property was terminated.
