The progress rollup process provides the ability to calculate, store, and report accumulated progress at each of the different levels in the progress reporting hierarchy.
When progress rollup is run, the system creates:

A progress rollup object for every hierarchy level.

A workpack rollup object for each workpack in the system which summarizes the workpack progress.
Ad hoc progress
The system allows for the rolling up of progress on an ad hoc basis. This allows project implementations to calculate rolled up progress for specified reporting levels.
Ad hoc progress calculations are based upon the current progress figures for specified
deliverables. That is, the progress figures for the specified deliverables will not
be recalculated; the software will only base its calculations on the figures from
the most recent rollup.
