For more customized workflow management, it can be helpful to create custom step classes for use in creating custom step definitions, which can then be used in existing or new workflow templates. For more information about configuring a custom workflow template, see Creating a new workflow template. For more information about configuring a custom workflow template, see Create a workflow template.

  1. Click File > New > Workflow > Step Class to display the New Step Definition Class dialog box.

  2. Type a name and description for the class.

  3. Select the Workflow step type.

    • If you select P (Process step), you must also type a name in the Process class name box. See below for details on process class names.

    • If you select W (Work step), you can also select the Password required for signoff and/or the Prevent rejection indicator check boxes (see below for more details).

    • If you select I (Information step), you can also select the Progress without acknowledgement check box (see below for more details).

  4. Select the e-mail definitions you wish to relate to the class. These will override the ones set up on the options object.

  5. Click Finish to create the new step class.

  6. Create a new step definition for the class. See Step definition configuration.
