Configure Related Text Rule

The RelatedText rule is used with the StaticText rule to extract data such as the actual drawing number that appears to the right of and below the "fixed" text (DRAWING No).

To configure the RelatedText rule, you must complete the following steps:

  1. In the Configuring Rule for Template window, select a value from the Related Constant list. This value is a "fixed" text, which is used as a reference point. In this example, DRAWING No. is the "fixed" text.

  2. Type integer values in the Attribute table, type the values for Offset Left, Offset Right, Offset Top, and Offset Bottom in their respective columns to indicate the x- and y-axis values of the offset area.

  3. Select the property to be used to store the extracted value from the Related Attribute list. In this example, you can select Drawing No. since the actual drawing number is extracted in this rule.

  4. Type an integer value in the Minimum Number Of Characters box to retrieve the specified number of characters. In this example, type 11 since the actual drawing number is exactly 11 characters, including the separators (-).

  5. Type in a character in the Padding Character box. This character will be added to the extracted text if the length of the text is less than the number specified in the Minimum Number Of Characters box.

  6. Type comma-separated values that you want to extract from the output in the Valid Values box.

  7. Select the check boxes to do the following:

    • Mandatory Field - Select this option if this is a mandatory value.

    • Output Text on All Rows - Select this option to extract data from multiple rows.

    • Output Multiple Instances - Select this option to extract all instances of the text in the output.

    • Output Data - Select this option to display data in the output.

  8. Click OK.

  • A preview box is created using the specified offset values and is displayed at the bottom of the window.

  • You can use the Scale slider to zoom.
