What is an instrument loop?

A group of one or more instruments or control functions arranged together to measure and control a process variable in a plant.

Why should I create an instrument loop?

To group different types of instruments together in a plant for controlling a process variable, you need to create an instrument loop and associate instruments to it.

  1. Click File > New > MTR > Instrument Loop.

  2. In the MTR Instrument Loop dialog box, type a name for the instrument loop.

  3. Click Finish.

You can click Find > MTR > Instrument Loops to search for the instrument loops created using this process.
