After creating and defining the data reader pattern for the sample Excel file PUMPS_500OrigC, you can now create a database domain discovery task using the data reader pattern. This extracts the data from the Excel file and stores the data in the product database.

  1. Log on to Data Capture Task Manager module.

  2. Click Database Domain Discovery Task.

  3. In the Database Domain Discovery Task page, click Create Database Domain Discovery Task .

    1. In the Create Database Domain Discovery Task window, select the PumpData data reader pattern from the list of data reader patterns.

    2. Click Ok.

    SHARED Tip You can now view the database domain discovery task created in the Database Domain Discovery Task page.

  4. Click Refresh to view the status of the database domain discovery task completion.

  • If the database domain discovery task is successfully completed, then the Status column header displays Passed and the value of Extracted objects for the creation/update count using the sample Excel file PUMPS_500OrigC is displayed as 500.

  • If the database domain discovery task fails and the error message "Failed to create tables using stored procedure. Exception: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00201: identifier 'FCET' must be declared ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:PL/SQL: Statement ignored" is displayed then you must log on to Server Manager and ensure that the product database reader scripts have been loaded.

View the tags loaded in the Data Capture database

  1. Log on to the Desktop Client.

  2. Click Find > Tags. For example, you can search and view all the tags starting from 1409-P-001.

  3. Right-click any tag from the tags list and select Show Domain Data. For example, you can select the tag 1409-P-004, and view its properties in the Properties pane. The Properties pane displays the Name, Description, Max Design Temp, Min Design Temp, Max Design Pressure and Min Design Pressure along with other details of the tag, such as the properties CP1 and Inlets.
