To enable a document master to be created without a document revision, the ISPFDocMaster interface is realized optionally on the class definition. If this was realized required, then every document master would be created with the ISPFDocMaster interface, and because this has a required relationship to the revision, it would force the creation of a revision and version as well.
Document reservation is the creation of a document master without optional interfaces. Additional interfaces are added to the class definition to perform the document reservation and activation, as described below.
