  1. Click Find > MTR > Authored Tags to search for the tag or tags in the MTRAuthoring domain that you want to modify.

You can also click Query > MTR > Authored Tags and provide specific search criteria to find the tag or tags.

  2. Right-click the tag or tags that you want to edit, and click List Edit <Tag Type Name> Properties.

SHARED Tip If you select multiple tags of different tag types to edit, right-click the tags and click List Edit Common Properties.

  3. In the List Edit <Tag Type> dialog box, edit the properties that you want to update, and click OK.

  • You cannot edit asset related properties, or cable run related properties using the standard dialog box. This is because the List Edit does not support properties that exist across edge definitions, so they are read-only. However, you can edit those properties in a Microsoft Excel spread sheet and import them into SmartPlant Master Tag Registry.

  • You can edit authored document proxies associated with tags using the Microsoft Excel data sheet as well as in the List Edit dialog box. You can change the existing authored document proxy for any tag. In case of a Microsoft Excel data sheet, you must import the data sheet with changes into SmartPlant Master Tag Registry. The system creates a new authored document proxy and associates it to the tag. As a result, multiple authored document proxies of the same type are associated to the tag. However, the generated data sheet does not support displaying multiple values for related objects. You must terminate the relationship between the tag and its authored document proxy that is no longer required. To terminate relationship, see Terminate authored tag relationships.

  • In this example, you have a PID Drawing authored document proxy, and the value, PID1, is associated with a tag. You want to associate PID2 with that tag, then change the value to PID2 in the Microsoft Excel datasheet and import the datasheet into SmartPlant Master Tag Registry. After importing, you must terminate the relationship between the tag and PID1.
