Access groups control user access to actions, menu commands, feature sets, functions, relationships, and navigation. They are created to represent different levels of functional access by organizing methods, relationships, and permissions so that they can be associated with specific roles.
Creating access groups is one of the primary tasks when you configure security. Roles are related to access groups, which in turn are related to methods, interfaces, and view definitions. This provides the roles access to the different components of the system. Therefore, assigning users to a specific role controls what the user can and cannot do in the system.
