Before you create a work package and a managed data task, verify that the property IsFDWInSameSite in the Settings pane of Server Manager is set to True. If you are using SDx deployed in Smart Cloud, this must be done for you by the Smart Cloud Team.

Create a new work package

Work packages should contain processed documents or business objects to be transferred from Data Capture to the Facility Data Warehouse.

Before you create a work package, you must load the files, and then process them using the document discovery task and content discovery task. For more information on how to process the documents, see Create a document discovery patterns group and Load documents into the Data Capture database.

  1. Log on to the software as Data CaptureController, and then click Data Capture Task Manager.

  2. Click Managed Data Tasks.

  3. On the Work Packages page, click Create Work Packages .

  4. Type a name for the work package in the Name box.

  5. Type a description for the work package in the Description box.

You can select a column set associated with document from the Column Items list.

  6. Type the search keyword in the Filter Value box, and click Search.

  7. Select one or more documents from the Data Capture Data pane, and click Export to FDW domain to move the documents to the Work Package Documents pane.

  8. Select one or more documents in the FDW Ready Documents pane, and click Configure Document Revision Scheme Configure_Document_RevisionScheme to apply a revision scheme to the selected documents. For example, you can either set Rev01A as revision scheme with major revision as 01 and minor revision as A or set RevNum as revision scheme with default value 10 as major revision.

  9. Click Save.

Create a managed data task for the work package to transfer the data internally.

  • Data Capture transfers Data Capture documents to the Facility Data WareHouse domain and creates Facility Data Warehouse documents without applying the ENS definition. However, if you want to create the Facility Data Warehouse documents with ENS applied, we recommend that you select Data Capture Document Transfer to FDW in the View Definition Groups list and HEX Managed Data Task in the Data Validator Job Definition list, delivered with the product, along with import mappings and other requisite configurations to export the data using Data Validator. You can also customize your own document mappings using Data Validator. For more information on how to configure the document mappings using Data Validator, see Export objects configured with ENS in the target system.

  • After the transfer to the Facility Data Warehouse, the corresponding documents in Data Capture are deleted.

  1. Click Managed Data Tasks in the Data Capture Task Manager module.

  2. In the Managed Data Tasks page, click Create Managed Data Tasks .

  3. Type the description of the managed data task in the Description box.

  4. Click Convert to Managed Documents (Internal).

  5. Select a work package from the Work Package list.

SHARED Tip Click Progress bar_MDT under the Progress header to view the percentage of the transfer status. You can also view the status message under the Status header.

  6. Click OK to export data to the Facility Data Warehouse.

  • To export previously exported documents, select the Include Exported Data check box.

  • To export latest version of the document, select the Export Only Latest Version check box.

  • To view validation details and transfer details on each document, click Validate Report and Transfer Report respectively. For example, by using the sample processed data, one document is successfully validated and transferred internally without using Data Validator to the Facility Data Warehouse.
