eLearning is available for this topic. Check it out here: HxGN SDx | Plant Breakdown Structure (PBS).
Engineering data is organized using a plant breakdown structure (PBS). For example, a PBS for organizing plant data might be plant, area, unit. The PBS hierarchy is defined in the SmartPlant schema.
There are two delivered PBS hierarchies:
-
Hexagon default: Site, SPFPlant, Area, Unit
-
Cross-plant interaction: Site, SPFPlant, Plant, Unit
If you have a CFIHOS-compatible site, you must use the cross-plant interaction hierarchy. You can use either hierarchy for non-CFIHOS sites.
Both hierarchies support secondary breakdown structures for the following purposes:
-
Physical
-
System
-
Sub System
-
Maintenance
-
Commissioning
-
Construction
-
Corrosion
There are advantages and disadvantages to each PBS, as explained in Differences between the two provided PBS hierarchies.
