This functionality was modified in an update. For more information, see Create the dashboard and make it available to selected users (modified in an updated).

This section describes how to create a dashboard, make it available from the Actions menu of a tag, and make it available to all users who can view tags.

When we create a dashboard, a method is created which can then be used to display the dashboard. We relate this method to an interface to make the dashboard available on the required Actions menu.

Watch a video showing how to create the dashboard

  1. In the Dashboards feature set, select Create Dashboard.

  2. Type SDx_Dashboard_Example as the name of the dashboard.

  3. Type Tag Information as the title. The Page title is displayed in the Web Client when the dashboard is opened. It is also used in the Actions menu to open the dashboard.

  4. Set the Type to Popup Modal. This creates a dashboard that is available from an object's Action menu and not a home screen. It will be displayed in a pop-up window rather than using the whole screen.

  5. Select Published. This option makes the dashboard available to other users.

When you are creating your own dashboards you can leave this option unchecked until you have finished making your changes and select it at a later time, as described in Update a dashboard.

  6. Select the Three widget layout template as the layout for the dashboard. This creates a dashboard with one widget on the left and two on the right.

  7. Click Next to move to the Access Control page of the wizard which is where we configure how to access the dashboard and who can view it.

  8. The Interfaces section is used to select the interfaces to relate the dashboard method. Select IFDWTag to relate the dashboard to the Actions menu for tags.

  9. In the Access groups section, select SOPSTagViewer. The SOPSTagViewer access group grants users access to view tags in the system. This means that the dashboard will be available to all users who have permission to view tags.

  10. Click Finish to create the dashboard. The dashboard is displayed showing three unconfigured widgets.

The next step is to Configure the widgets.

If you want to change any of the settings above, select Configure Page at the top right of the page.
