Problem

You cannot log on to the Web Client application after upgrading to Update 43 due to an error message:

An error occurred whilst communicating with client services or Client services failed to start

This warns that:

The app server requires ASP.Net Core Runtime Hosting Bundle.

Common Causes

You might encounter this problem because the ASP.NET Core Runtime Hosting Bundle pre-requisite is missing from the application server software.

Solutions

You must ensure all software pre-requisites are installed on the application server before upgrading. You can check the pre-requisites list in the HxGN SDx Hardware and Software Recommendations for your version of HxGN SDx.

As from Update 43, the ASP.NET Core Runtime Hosting Bundle is a required pre-requisite. Install any missing prerequisites, recycle your app pools, and try to log on again.

SHARED Tip The installation setup will continue installing the product but a compatible version of the ASP.NET Core Runtime Hosting Bundle must be installed and configured on the application server before you can run the product.
