Some recipients of documents or files are not users within the system. For these users who need to receive the files attached to documents in an object like a transmittal, the files need to be copied to the local file system so they can be distributed on another medium, such as a CD or DVD. Another example of file distribution is a project handover, where an EPC hands over the entire plant, project, or part of the information, such as a file system directory, including the report.
The export object structure command can be run on two kinds of objects:
-
An object with a graph definition defined, for example, a transmittal.
-
An object with ISPFFileComposition on it, for example, a document.
The export of the object structure can be run from a shortcut command on a selected object or configured as a workflow step (see Workflow template configuration for workflow step configuration). It can be run as a scheduled task (Offline) or interactively on the local machine (Online).
For more information, see ExportObjectStructure client API and ExportObjectStructureLocal client API.
