The following messages display when trying to view a file or compare files:

Unable to retrieve the markup rendition

Created scheduled task to create markup rendition

Cause

Your users might encounter this problem if a markup rendition does not exist.

Solution

Your users can try again after the scheduled task completes and a markup rendition is created.

The main scheduler must be started to process the scheduled task. To verify:

  1. Log on to the Desktop Client as an administrator on the application server.

  2. Click Find > Administration > Schedulers.

  3. Find MainScheduler.

  4. Verify that the Enabled column shows True.

    If the Enabled column shows False, right-click MainScheduler > Scheduler > Start.

To check the status of the scheduled task:

  1. Log on to the Desktop Client as an administrator on the application server.

  2. Click Query > Schedule Tasks, or click Query for Scheduled Tasks from the toolbar.

  3. Provide the required information to find the scheduled task, and click Finish.

    SHARED Tip The default task name is Markup Rendition - FT_pdf.

How will I know when a scheduled task is completed?

When a scheduled task is complete, it will be removed from the query list. If the scheduled task fails, it will stay on the query list where it can be retried or will be automatically retried the next time the user opens the file for view or compare.

To retry a failed task, right-click the failed task in the query list and click Task > Retry Task. To view the error, right-click the task and click Task > Show Task Failure.
