You can configure a workflow step to require password re-authentication to sign off and approve the step before the workflow can continue. This functionality is available for any workflow step when approval is required, such as those found in the ToDo list, Change Management, Response Management, and Document Review, and so on.

To enable the workflow step re-authentication, set the Password required for signoff option on a workflow step class object. This sets the SPFPasswordReqdForSignoff property to True on the workflow step class object.

When the re-authentication option is enabled, you are prompted to re-enter your password as you try to submit a workflow step. A dialog supplied by the configured authentication provider handles the re-authentication process and allows the workflow to continue.

If an error occurs, the user is taken back to the workflow point just before the re-authentication dialog was displayed. The step will not progress. For more information, see Workflow step password re-authentication errors.

The re-authentication window may be displayed as a new tab instead.
