Configure VDS for a HxGN SDx for PAB site - HxGN SDx - Update 64 - Administration & Configuration

The following steps are required if you are configuring a HxGN SDx for a Project As-Built (PAB) environment. You can skip these steps if you are configuring a standalone HxGN SDx environment.

Creating a VDS Client Application Object

You must have a Client Application object in your site to identify the VDS server components. You can create a new Client Application object or use the default, VDSClient, that is provided with the software. If you are using the default, skip these steps.

1. Log on to HxGN SDx for PAB as one of the following:

   • System Administrator belonging to the PABSystemAdmin or PABPlantAdmin access groups

   • Data Capture Administrator

2. Select the System Administration feature set and click Create Client Application.

3. In the Create Client Application form:

   • Enter the Name and Client application ID.

     The Client application ID must match:

     • The Client ID registered in the Smart API Manager on your authorization server or in Okta. For more information, see Use Smart API Manager as the authorization server (VDS Application Server Setup) or Set up Okta as the authorization server.

     • The VDS Client Identifier listed in the VDS Configuration Utility.

   • Select Allow impersonation of all users.

4. Click Finish.

Creating a VDS SDx user

The VDS SDx user is required for the VDS User Login Name in the VDS Configuration Utility.

You can create a new SDx user to represent VDS or use the default SDx user, VDSUserPAB, that is provided with VDS. If you are using the default, skip these steps.

1. Log on to HxGN SDx for PAB as one of the following:

   • System Administrator belonging to the PABSystemAdmin or PABPlantAdmin access groups

   • Data Capture Administrator

2. Select the Business administration feature set and click User Management.

3. Make sure the following requirements are met when following these instructions: Create a new user.

   • The user name and login name must match the Impersonating User registered in the Smart API Manager on your authorization server. For more information, see Use Smart API Manager as the authorization server (VDS Application Server Setup).

   • Select an organization for the user.

   • Set the user role to Viewer for each plant.
