Window Tab > View R3D Hierarchy Explorer
Displays the contents of the workspace in a classification hierarchy that reflects the various relationships defined for the design objects. The content represents the current objects loaded from the database into the active workspace.
Smart 3Dx keeps the hierarchy explorers and the graphic view synchronized if the item displays in both. When you select an object in either, the same object highlights in both if it has representations in both views.
Displaying selected objects
Because of the way that objects are organized in the hierarchy explorers, the software may need to expand nodes in the tree and scroll the view to display the highlighted object. If you select multiple objects in the graphic view, the hierarchy explorer expands the hierarchy and displays the last object that you selected. Depending on the size of the hierarchy explorer and which nodes you have expanded, you might see multiple objects selected in the tree. If you have selected objects that are in collapsed nodes in the hierarchy, Smart 3Dx displays the nodes containing selected items in bold.
Select an item in a hierarchy explorer, and then click Fit (F) on the View Manipulation Toolbar to navigate to that object in the graphic view.
Expanding nodes containing selected objects
-
Click Expand All Selections to expand all of the nodes containing items in the select set while leaving any nodes without selected items collapsed.
-
Another option is to use the Selection Browser to browse to the item you want to see.
Displaying the explorers you need
Select the hierarchy explorers to display from the Window Tab.
If you have more than one explorer selected, use the tabs at the bottom of the pane to switch between hierarchy explorers. Right-click the tab to display viewing options for the hierarchy.
Searching
Use the search bar to find specific objects in the selected hierarchy. To search, type the name of the object in the search bar, and then click Search . Search results appear in the Search Results View to the left.
Locking the explorer
When you select an object in the graphic view, the hierarchy explorer scrolls automatically to that object. Locking the hierarchy explorer prevents the view from scrolling automatically. If you select an object in the graphic view when the hierarchy explorer is locked , the object is selected but not automatically presented in the hierarchy explorer. You can manually scroll to the object to see that it is selected.
Context Menu
Auto hide
Collapses the view to a tab on the edge of the window when you point away from the view. The view header displays Pinned when Auto hide is cleared and Unpinned when Auto hide is selected.
Open New Hierarchy
Creates a new hierarchy explorer tab in the Hierarchy Explorer.
When you point to the Open New Hierarchy command, the software displays a list of hierarchy types. Select a type to add the new hierarchy to the Hierarchy Explorer. The Open New Hierarchy command displays when you:
-
Right-click the Hierarchy Explorer header.
-
Click Context Menu in the Hierarchy Explorer header.
-
Right-click a hierarchy tab at the bottom of the Hierarchy Explorer.
